A New Addition

It’s been a long time since I last posted.  I have a good excuse – I’m really busy at work right now.

But I have been making a few things craft wise.  It is just so fun to ignore everything and just work on a project for an afternoon.  Yesterday evening I made a teddy bear.

I had hoped Bonnie would instantly love and adore this little bear.  I think it is really cute and fun and cuddly.  But alas she did her usual – looked at it and dropped it.  Oh well.  Maybe when she gets older she will enjoy my little endeavors more.

I’m off – it’s monday and I have a lot to do before tax season ends.

Another Year

It’s been a while since I last posted and I apologize.  Sometimes my life is just really busy and there isn’t much I can do about it but colapse on the couch at the end of a busy day.

 Last Friday I finished another stitchette from Wee Wonderfuls and I’ve ordered the Winter Sitchette group.  I am looking forward to getting those and starting.  Currently my head is itching on ideas of what to do with the stitchettes.  I really want to create wall hangings – much like my mother does.  You can see her stuff here http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmclean/sets/1701781/

I’m not nearly close to my mother’s level of quilting considering I’ve never made one.  But I’d like that to change.  Right now I’m torn between doing just a single stitchette or all four on one wall hanging.  I’m planning on hanging them in my daughters room but there are so many people I’d like to make them for.

Is it Morning?

What a crazy busy weekend.  I worked half the weekend and then cleaned the other half.  Needless to say none of it did any good – except we discovered a pretty important piece of the puzzle to what I was working on at work.

On the fun side of the weekend I started a new embroidery.  I picked it up from the Wee Wonderfuls website and I’m having a lot of fun.  I can’t wait to finish it and hang it up in Bonnie’s room.  Her room needs a lot of work and I would like to have pictures hung to make it look like a real room and not just a space that someone sleeps in.

On a new note – what do you do when your baby begins waking up regularly duing the middle of the night and must have a bottle (of milk not water) to go back to sleep.  I haven’t had good sleep for two weeks and I have to say it’s killing me.  I’ll just suck it up but really if anyone has any good advice please let me in on it.

First Attempt

Before Christmas my order for three embroidery books arrived.  I was pretty excited about the books and looked through them pretty quickly.  But when Christmas came and I had free time, I didn’t feel in the mood to work on embroidery.   I’ve been dying to try it out for the past two weeks and last night I made my first attempt.  I am really pleased with the outcome.  Look for yourself.

I used a pattern from Sublime Stitching.  I completely recommend this book if you’re a beginner like me - I really had no problems.  Although I guess I’m not a total beginner because I’ve been doing cross stitch since before I could write my own name.

On another note I just thought this photo of Bonnie was so cute that everyone could use this little pick me up.

A Floor

Towards the end of my busy day yesterday I was reading some blogs.  I desperately needed to unwind after my daughter went to bed.  On one blog she displayed pictures of her daughters room all organized and cleaned up.  I was inspired. I headed off to Jays & my bedroom – which had sort of become a dumping ground for everything.  I ended up packing up 5 bags of my clothing – some maternity and some pre-baby.  Needless to say I have not worn any of those clothes in a few months, so I packed up the clothes and took them out of my room.  Then I proceeded to clean up and vacuum the floor.  I was so excited to go to bed last night because the room was so clean.This morning all of my effort paid off.  Bonnie crawled into our bedroom and just stopped.  She looked around and looked at me as if to say – where am I?  I was so pleased that the room looked so much better that even our daughter didn’t recognize it.  On a side note I cleaned up the bedroom and didn’t just stop at the bedroom floor.  I cleaned out my closet and organized my shoes.  Then I attacked my dresser.  Lets just say way too much was stored in those drawers.  I had vintage curtains that had never been shortened for the kitchen window in my drawers.  I removed those and put them in storage.  All I have left to do is clean off my dresser – which is truly a large task but I’m looking forward to it.  I love the way the room looks.  I think I may even hang some pictures in there and make the room feel very welcome.On another note we have to tackle Bonnie’s room this week – a chore I do not look forward too. 

A little of this and that

On Saturday I had spent all week checking out some really amazing crafting sites.  So I had the bug in me to make something but I spent the whole day working.  Toward the end of the day I was able to make a few cards.

Finally I can blog

I’ve been trying to get this blogsite up and running for a week or so.  On my home computer every time I tried to blog it would kick me out saying I had an error.  Luckily I’m at the office on Saturday to blog.   

Now down to the good stuff.  I craft when I have free time and absolutely love doing it.  I found a new site this morning and she has the same name as me.  I know this sounds silly but I love it – just my silliness surfacing.  So the site is http://shimandsons.typepad.com/.  She makes absolutely some of the neatest stuff I’ve ever seen.  I wish I could think up ideas like she does.  But then all the sites I visit are just amazing.   I figure I’ll be able to create my own ideas in the future but right now I’m just getting the basics down. 

I ordered my first three Japanese craft magazines the other day.  One I bought off eBay.  Turns out the magazine is really being shipped from
Japan.  I choose the free shipping method so I’ll get the magazine in about two to three weeks, just about the time I will forget about it.  So when it arrives it should be pretty cool. 

Other exciting news is the bathroom remodel was finished last week.  Now don’t be foolish and think I had anything to do with this except take a few pictures of the bathroom.  I have absolutely no ability to remodel in any way shape of form.  But I love it.  Better yet little Bonnie loves the bathtub – a new addition to the household.   

So this week turned out good.  I bought three Japanese magazines, used my new bathroom, cleaned house, accomplished a lot at work, played with Bonnie, found a bunch more craft sites, and spent time with my man, Jay.
